American Heritage Car Show
May 26, 2012 9am-3pm
The Toyota of Escondido American Heritage Car
Show features hundreds of fabulous cars on the lawn in Grape Day Park. Show includes a pancake breakfast, vendors, DJ, raffle
and museum tours. This year we are honoring builder Randy Clark of Hot Rods & Custom Stuff. Spectators free, vehicle entry fee.
Walking Tours
10am Saturdays or 6pm Tuesdays
We have five different walking tour routes. One or two free walking tours of historic
Escondido are offered every month.
Grape Day
September 8, 2012
7:30am 5k, 9:30am parade, 9:30am-4pm festival
Escondido's most historic event started off with a 5k
fun run for the first time in 2011 and it will be back in 2012. Then the historic parade down Grand Ave takes place, and last but
not least, enjoy the festival in its namesake park! The free festival includes grape stomping, entertainment stage, vendor booths,
fun zone, free grapes and, a beer garden, and more! Many thanks to our 2011 sponsors including the County of San
Diego, Rincon Band of Luiseno Indians, Escondido Rotary Club and George W. Weir Asphalt Construction.
Independence Day Celebration
July 4 4:30pm - 9:30pm
Escondido celebrates in Grape Day Park with activities,
museum tours and an entertainment stage, before fireworks light up the night at 9:00.
History Mystery Challenge
August 16, 2012
Recruit your friends and get ready for an evening riddled with food, drink and fun! This is
a lively team event with a scavenger hunt theme. But don't worry, you don't need to know local history to play or win. The
clues each team has to decipher teaches you about Escondido's history as you explore downtown.
Your tax-deductible donation helps us provide many activites at no cost.
Cinco de Mayo fundraiser at Melrose Ranch
May 5, 2012 11am-3pm
Join us at a local historic ranch for very fun,
fundraiser! The Mexican themed event includes entertainment by the Charros de Escondido on horseback and you'll enjoy a delicious
fiesta lunch. Explore the ranch during a wagon ride or a leisurely walk to see long-horn cttle, horses and goats up close. Kids will
enjoy a pinata and crafts; everyone will like watching a cowboy sharp shooter, and blacksmiths, plus checking out vintage
vehicles and lovely gardens.
Hungry for History
Thursdays
Get Hungry for History once-a-month. Eat at a different local restaurant each month with
part of the net proceeds benefiting the History Center. Take your family out to eat, or enjoy a meal with friends. Just remember you
MUST take a flyer with you - it has all the info and will be retained by the restaurant.
Adobe Home Tour

Our second tour of Escondido's unique adobe homes will again bring you a mix of homes designed
or built by the Escondido based Weir Bros. as well as other local builders and designers. Don't miss the opportunity to explore
this rich architectural style in depth.

Glow-in-the-Park
August 4, 7pm-11pm
We are teaming up with the Escondido Arts Partnership for an event that will transform Grape
Day Park into an Art Park! This free community event will be fun for all ages. You be able to interact with art, watch
films, and make art.
